ARCOS
In partnership with the Lucy Family Institute and the Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO), ND Pop helped launch the ARCOS Data Portal. Director Bill Evans and faculty affiliate Ethan Lieber led the effort to build the database, which allows users to enter customizable queries that trace the journey of prescription opioids from manufacturing to distribution. Lieber and Evans sketched an outline of how researchers could use the data and consulted with Lucy’s Applied Analytics and Emerging Technology Lab (AETL) on the design of the platform. LEO provided project management for the effort. The ARCOS Data Portal was released for public use in early 2024.
Census Tree
Led by Kasey Buckles (University of Notre Dame) and Joseph Price (Brigham Young University), the Census Tree Project links historical census data for individuals living in the U.S. between 1850–1940. It is the largest database of census record links. The data is hosted by ICSPR and available for download.
Future of Families & Child Wellbeing Study
Currently led by Kathryn Edin (Princeton University), Jane Waldfogel (Columbia University), and Anna Haskins (University of Notre Dame), the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study (FFCWS) follows a cohort of 5,000 children born in large U.S. cities between 1998-2000. Data has been collected in seven waves across 25 years. In addition to the core study (which surveys the child, parents, and primary caregivers), FFCWS has expanded over time to include 18 colloborative projects. The public use data is hosted by ICSPR and available for download. Investigators must submit an application to receive restricted use data.
