The Census Tree Conference
February 25-26, 2027 at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN
The Census Tree is a set of over 700 million record links that allow researchers to follow people and families across historical U.S. census records between 1850 and 1940. Since the links were made available to the research community in 2023, the data have been downloaded over 5,000 times and used in over 90 published and working papers.
The conference will feature presentations of papers that use the Census Tree to answer questions related to public policy, economic opportunity, and human behavior and well-being. Travel funds will be provided for presenting authors.
Please use the button below to submit a paper for consideration by September 30. You will be asked to upload a paper draft or a two-page extended abstract. Graduate students and early-career researchers are encouraged to submit. You will be notified of our decision no later than October 16.
