Census Tree

1940 U.S. Census Population Schedule Form A. The mostly blank form includes fields for household data, race, education, place of birth, residence in 1935, employment status, and supplemental questions.

The Census Tree project links historical census data for people living in the U.S. between 1850–1940. In particular, the Census Tree database (representative of the population) includes over 300 million census-to-census links for women and over 40 million links for Black Americans. The Census Tree will facilitate research that explores intergenerational outcomes for under-represented groups. ND Pop predoc Andrew Lugo currently helps code machine-learning algorithms for census-to-census linking.
