Biography
Cassandra Merritt is the Assistant Director of Data Science Services for Notre Dame Population Analytics, where she works to encourage scholarship with restricted-use data across the Notre Dame social sciences—supporting data infrastructure, serving as a concierge for data agreements, and leading consulting, training, and workshops in analytical and computational methods.
As a labor economist, she orients her research around education, the changing nature of work, and technology. Before joining ND Pop, Cassandra worked as a postdoctoral scholar with Notre Dame's Future of Labor Lab, where she studied the societal impacts of AI and how information shapes managerial decision-making.
She earned a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Davis, where she also worked with the California Education Lab. Previously, she served as a field economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Edinburgh, and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematical business economics from Hofstra University.
